Here's what I did - I drilled a hole in the frame that's located directly in line with the pull cord, I fed the cord through, and I placed a grommet in the hole. VIOLA! Issue fixed. It works perfectly. I think this is the best $0.50 I ever spent.

Now, my cord is situated right below the on and off switch. I am strongly recommending this little tweak since, as the another ETQ TG72K12 Portable Generator reviewer said, the pull cord is awkwardly placed.
