Champion Power Equipment 46534 Portable Generator - My Review
December last year, I lost power for 5 days straight, and it was HELL! I swore to myself never to be stuck in such a situation again. With that in mind, a thorough search for the right portable generator began in earnest.
The Expensive Generators
I had a close look at the pricier portable generators from Honda and Honeywell 2k models. They are small, light, and almost perfect - except for the facts that they are (1) too pricey for my budget (2) doesn't provide me with the wattage rating that I need.
The Other End Of The Spectrum
I switched to the other end - those portable generators that have 6000 to 8000 wattage ratings. Sure enough, they provide me with more power...more than what I need. BUT here's the thing - they are NOT portable. Many of them weigh well over 200 pounds and they are too heavy for me to move myself.

I was already feeling a little frustrated when I found the portable generator that gave me the best of both worlds - portability and sufficient wattage rating (and at a price that I love!). It's no other than the Champion Power Equipment 46534 Portable Generator. It comes with 4000 watts and it only weighs 100 pounds - easy enough for me to move around the house and powerful enough to keep my essential home appliances up and running for a significant amount of time.
I got my Champion Power Equipment 46534 Portable Generator unit online. Unfortunately, my car is too small to bring the boxed unit and something weighing 100 pounds is a little too much for my old wheels and it could be hard to get in and out of the car.
I was very pleased to see that the portable generator was delivered to me within just 3 days after ordering. Everything else that followed is pleasant!
Assembly And Start Up - Piece Of Cake!
The Champion Power Equipment 46534 Portable Generator was assembled in a little more than 10 minutes - that's pretty fast considering I'm someone who moves like a slug. Even better was the fact that starting it up is just as easy. On my second pull, the portable generator is already up and running!
Along with that, it is fairly quiet. It's not louder than your average lawn mower - no sleepless nights with this portable generator.
One Word Of Caution
There's one thing I would need to remind you though - for you to take advantage of the full 4000 watts capability of the Champion Power Equipment 46534 Portable Generator, you need to grab a 110v/30amp twist lock cable. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find one in the local hardware store.
For lower power use, though, you can just use a standard 110v extension cord.
In Conclusion...
I'm more than pleased with the Champion Power Equipment 46534 Portable Generator - the speed of delivery, the ease of use, the power, weight, and everything else in between. While I'm not expecting any power outages (I hate them!), the peace of mind it provides is more than worth it!
