My Generac 5622 GP5000 Review
Back then, I grabbed a different although similar sized portable generator from an equipment store nearby. I bought thinking that it was a bargain. It tuns out that I was in for an unpleasant surprise.
You see, the problem with this overseas made generator is that the fuel poured out at the part where the carburator mated to the portable generator's engine. I think it was due to a leaked gasket. BUT I don't want such trouble. I went back to the store immediately to return it, and I was glad I found the Generac 5622 GP Series GP5000 Portable Generator!
The Build
In the 'looks and build' department, I must say that the Generac 5622 GP Series GP5000 Portable Generator scores heavily and solidly. It comes with a solid build feel to it BUT it's NOT unnecessarily heavy or bulky as you may be tempted to think.
Following the instructions from the manual, the generator's engine started up in a moment's notice and ran smoothly. While it is true that it's louder than I expected, it's nothing serious, nothing unusual. It's not going to give you sleepless nights for sure.
I really love the design of Generac for their alternators and engines - they are specifically build to work together. They are NOT two independent units that were built by 2 different manufacturers and slapped together - ready for marketing.
A lot of labor and love went into the creation of this portable generator!
Some Reminders
If you are running electronic equipment from this generator (or any other generator for that matter), there's risk that you may damage the equipment as the Generac 5622 GP Series GP5000 Portable Generator does NOT produce energy waves that are clean enough.
In light of that, I would strongly advice that you grab some sort of voltage regulation if you want to run sensitive gadgets and gizmos like laptops, printers, computers, etc. for an extended period of time.
On the other hand, if you don't want to go that way, you may want to go for Generac portable generators (their XP series to be specific) that makes pure sine energy wave. These are suitable for running sensitive electronic equipments. HOWEVER, let me remind you that you would have to pay a lot for these!
In conclusion, the Generac 5622 GP Series GP5000 Portable Generator is one hell of a find! I'm definitely recommending it.
