I grabbed the Yamaha EF2000iS Portable Generator primarily for charging my boat's batteries and for having enough power to run some power tools that I have. While many 1000 watt inverter generators could easily take care of the charging part, they are NOT good enough when it comes to handling the power tools.

Eligible for free shipping!Along with the extra power for operating these very power consuming tools, I also want something that's quiet. This is one of the top priorities. After all, nobody wants to be distracted with the non stop and irritating noise (that many heavy generators produce) and I don't want to be regarded as a bad neighbor in the anchorages.
The Honeywell generators are NOT quiet enough in my opinion. A search for the right portable generator began in earnest - and I'm very happy that I have found it. It's no other than the Yamaha EF2000iS Portable Generator.

Another thing I love about the Yamaha EF2000iS Portable Generator is that it is exceptionally fuel efficient. For one thing, it can run up to 10 and a half hours without the need for refueling (that's when the generator is in Economy Mode). The OHV engine can run without fail and eliminates heat without any trouble. That translates to longer unit life and optimal fuel consumption.
The BEST Thing - Quiet Operation
In my opinion, the most impressive thing about the Yamaha EF2000iS Portable Generator is how quiet it is. As mentioned earlier, I want a generator that has a very low noise level - and this one definitely fits the bill.
Even if the engine is switched to full engine speed, you can stand about 6 feet away from it and you won't have any trouble having a normal phone conversation - no need to raise your voice or yell. Perfect!
Along with that, the Eco setting of the Yamaha EF2000iS Portable Generator tappers down the engine throttle as well as noise when the unit is NOT fully loaded. At half throttle (or even less), the Yamaha EF2000iS Portable Generator is just half as loud - amazingly quiet!
You don't believe a portable generator could be this peaceful?
Well, get this - I used to run a 50 amp and 12 v battery charger at full charge level. The Yamaha EF2000iS Portable Generator is required to perform only at half speed. And when the charger has been tapered down - down to a charge level of about 30 amps, the generator gets so quiet...so quiet that I literally forget that I'm charging!
It is way quieter and more peaceful than my boat's inboard diesel engine and it is more efficient than running the boat's main engine just to power up and charge the batteries.
I could go on and on - saying how great the Yamaha EF2000iS Portable Generator is. BUT spare me that - let me tell you this - if you are on the hunt for a portable generator that's QUIET, efficient, and can deliver the power you need!
